Hello! I’m an AWS expert and have joined a game project using ET6. I know very little about game development and this is the first time I’ve heard of ET. In modern AWS cloud computing, you have 1 “server” instance , and depending on the load, multiple copies of that instance are created and deleted to connect the computing resources together to handle the traffic. You have a load balancer that distributes traffic between multiple instances you create. So in this case, there might be 100 replicas of ET6 running the game together, and the load balancer routing 10,000 users between those 100 instances. This is how I architect my cloud to be ready for very high expected user demand. The developers assured me that ET6 is a distributed architecture, which I understand means it should be usable in modern cloud-scale systems like this one on AWS. Can anyone comment on whether games using ET6 are suitable for AutoScaling group EC2 instances on AWS? Thanks!

you can only use EC2 instance，use linux system。AutoScaling group is unnecessary。you can start some gate processes to load balancer

I’ve looked into some ET6 documents and have a clearer question now.

Some parts might depend on specific details, and I’m trying to get more information from my team. Any advice would be very helpful!

From your reply and the images, it seems:

I can use only one EC2 instance.
This EC2 will have an ET6-created gateway.
Players connect to a load balancer, which connects them to the gateway process on the EC2.

I am not questioning your expertise, just seeking clarity - my development team mentioned we can “stack servers” based on player numbers.

A) When I, and my project manager hear “stack servers”, this means to us that we are adding a second EC2 instance to help share processing between two EC2 instances.

B) When the dev team says “stack servers”, this might indicate that they mean multiple copies of ET6 inside of one EC2 instance.(like pics)

Could you help clarify and confirm that option A) is or is not a possibility?

interesting! Thanks for your reply, we are looking into Linux. I’m not part of the game coding team, so I don’t quite understand how the gate process works, but it sounds like if I have 10 servers for a developer to use, the developer can have the gate process use those 10 servers. I’ll check out the documentation and see if I can understand it better. Thank you for your guidance!

Thank you for your reply. I agree, this is the best way in theory. I have had difficulties with being on the other side of the globe. Trying to communicate this to them initially was difficult.

I’m doing both and trying to do as much research as possible by asking questions and looking over documentation to make sure I am prepared when talking with them about ET6!
